About Animals at Home (Exmoor and Quantocks) Ltd.
Welcome to Animals at Home (Exmoor and Quantocks) Ltd. The owners, Iain and Kathy live on the edge of Exmoor with their young son; they also share their home with two rescued Saluki Crosses, a working Border Collie and an ex-stray cat.
Iain has had animals since childhood. He has studied and is certified in canine anatomy, physiology and clinical health as well as emergency medical care and is also advanced in animal first aid and handling; he is also studying animal behaviour at an advanced level; this and his love of animals has brought his knowledge and experience together for your pets with Animals at Home.
Kathy has a background in commercial livestock, having trained at Seale-Hayne Agricultural College. She has vast experience in dealing with the larger animals and has previously owned and ran working dogs while shepherding. Kathy provides back up to Iain during busy periods and is the contact for smallholders and horse owners. Iain and Kathy previously owned a very successful Animals at Home branch in the East of England but relocated to Somerset after the birth of their son to be closer to Kathy's family.
They find that giving a home to rescued dogs is challenging but extremely rewarding: this has given opportunities to learn new techniques in establishing trust and security in adult dogs with troubled pasts.
Their West Somerset home has large gardens and a secure two acre field along with 25 further acres of grassland and is surrounded by wooded hills; a great area for walking dogs. It is an ideal home and setting to host care for your dogs.
Iain and Kathy also offer the complete range of Animals at Home pet services including equine and smallholding care. Kathy has vast experience with commercial and rare breed sheep through previous work and with having commercial ewes of their own. The company operates a DEFRA / Animal Welfare authorised animal ambulance and holds a Type 2 animal movement license.
Iain also holds a DEFRA Certificate of Competence in transporting and handling domestic species of cattle, sheep, goats, pigs, domestic equidae and poultry.
They both look forward to meeting you and offering a second to none service to you and your pets.
